If you’ve been here for a while you know I love a good visibility plan.
After an incredible experience with my Thrive Collective ladies, something sparked within me. Being in person is so powerful, and with all that has taken place within the last year and especially in being in the online space where everything is, well, online – I knew that being in person would be a game-changer.
Since that retreat, I’ve received a lot of notes and feedback asking me to dive into the planning process. What does it take? How far out should you be planning? When do you know it’s time to go in person?
Here are my top three tips when planning your first in-person retreat.
So much goes into retreat and event planning. This was something I did when I worked in corporate, and there are so many details involved that can make or break the experience.
After all, it is an experience.
The first thing when planning a retreat is to determine the location.
Here’s what you need to know:
✶ What type of ambiance do you want?
✶ What amenities are included?
✶Proximity to the airport?
Factor in travel time to and from the airport and if you want to incorporate travel costs (optional)
With retreat planning, there are several ways you can take it. Do you want your retreat more laid back and relaxed (more of a vacation style with networking) or do you want specific speaking topics, guest experts, and structure? There’s no right or wrong, it just depends on your specific goal of the retreat and what you want your attendees to get out of it.
The earlier the better.
It’s a motto I live by. (and something my team keeps me accountable for)
Give yourself a minimum of at least three months in advance to plan for. Start with the largest bucket (location) and the content of your retreat and work your way down to not-so pressing things like what snacks to keep in the fridge and what to do during the little spurts of free time.
I have to give my team all the credit here. As a Manifesting Generator, I can see the vision clear as day but would get lost in the details if I tried to do it alone. Find a support system to help with the planning, execution and fill in the gaps of what needs to get done when, and how.
Planning a retreat is such a fun process and one of my biggest passions. Being given the opportunity to create a luxury experience for my clients is what fuels me day in and day out.
I’d love to hear from you! What is your ideal luxury retreat?
